AUSTRALIAN BMX
FREESTYLE ARCHIVE

The Australian BMX Freestyle Archive (ABMXFA) was established in 2012 as a means to compile, record, and preserve important artefacts pertaining to Australian freestyle history.

The archives currently hold over 1100 catalogued items including photographs, video footage, documents, publications, advertisements, BMX frames and parts, clothing, safety wear, ramp segments, and other interesting freestyle artefacts.

The artefacts are often used for:

  • Research projects including the Australian BMX Freestyle Timeline, print and digital media, and academic research

  • Displayed in museums, exhibits, and other events including the Unscene: A History of Brisbane Freestyle exhibit, and inductee displays at the Australian BMX Hall of Fame

Prior to cataloging, each submission is carefully researched to ensure its historical credibility, where it is later cleaned, digitised and recorded into a database.

All artefacts are privately owned, loaned or donated to the ABMXFA and securely stored in an environment away from natural light and other harmful elements to prevent further deterioration or modification.

Submissions

There are three ways an item can be submitted into the archives:
Donate, Loan and Purchase.
Each submission type is designed to document and preserve the item
and ensure it stays in a secure, clean, purpose built environment.
